This is Sugar, a kitten a friend and I rescued near our workplace around Eunos. I think she may be around 4 months old - she's not fully grown yet. She looks like a Siamese, but has a little bobbed tail. I highly suspect she belonged to someone who thought she wasn't pretty enough because of her tail.

She's a very sweet girl - she's a total cuddlebuddy and loves to rest on laps (as shown in this picture). She loves exploring as well, and loves balls and string.

These photos really do her no justice, because she really is a beautiful feline, and her eyes are a dazzling diamond blue.

She's now staying with a friend, but can only be there till next Tuesday, 10th March. Please, if you or anyone you know can give her a good home, please leave a tag with your e-mail and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thank you so much.

Kari is painting sneakers!

First, what medium does she use? She only uses System 3 Daler Rowney Acrylics. They're a pretty good brand which I've used for over 2+ years. Acrylics are the kind of paint, which after drying, does not wash out with water. Kari is very new to the sneaker painting business, but so far, hasn't seen the need for fixative of any kind.

What does Kari draw? Kari usually likes doing/and can do animals, nature, intricate designs and tribal tattoo designs - though if what you want does not fall into that category, just ask and she'll see if she can do your request.

How does Kari go about it? Kari gets the request, eg. "I want a little crazy, like flowers and squiggles and lots of pastels." Kari then takes that and interprets it, and paints the shoe directly - little to no planning and sketching done. Its very impromptu and instinctual. She's sorry she can't do a draft, but if you have any specific ideas, do give things like patterns or photos for her to reference and she will do her best to put that onto the shoe.

Price: The standard is around S$35 per pair. This covers mostly the time taken, as well as paint. The price is negotiable and depends on design - more intricate, more expensive.

Time Taken: It will take Kari between 2-4 weeks to complete. She will only take 2-3 orders at any one time (1 pair = 1 order)

How do I pay her? Kari prefers if the person can pay on the meet-ups; On the first one to pass the sneakers and maybe discuss design, a deposit would be paid. It is half the price of the shoe, and when Kari gives the completed shoes, you pay the other half. Its that simple!

I found myself thinking today if I should set up another blog - similiar to Down With Barbie, but much more personal.

Its not that I don't like writing for DWB, but I think it would be good, to keep certain things - things that are related, but I rather keep on a more personal space - on my own blog. Not this one - this is more for updates when I feel like it.

The blog I have in mind has to do with more personal things. Not necessarily NSFW, RA21, M18 or whatsoever stuff, but things that affect me. Things that affect me deeply. Things that I don't mind telling, but I just don't tell because I don't find a need to say them.

I think its a good idea. I feel as though typing out whatever's really affecting me on a public domain would encourage - maybe even force - me to come face to face with my problems.

Of course, I realise that by doing that, I'm placing myself in an extremely vulnerable position - which I vehemently try to avoid like the plague.

Perhaps I would only talk about the root of the problem, and touch upon the domino effect it has upon of the other things in my life.

What I want out of this, is perhaps, finding answers. Helping others find answers too. Maybe let other people feel not-so-alone. Or just to chronicle something in this part of my life - maybe look back and smile over my progress.

Whatever the decision, I've set myself a deadline to decide by the end of this week.

I have to say that its really hard trying to find a good blogskin. I found a fairly decent Final Fantasy X one, whose font was not ultra small like the first skin, and has a nice purple theme.

I apologise for the tagboard though. I think the colours look weird but I'm still trying to figure out all the numericals and whatnot for individual colours.

When my skills have become l33+ I will make a skin of my own.

First Post @ Down With Barbie

I'm part of Adalmin's team for the blog Down With Barbie, whose focus before was more on fashion, like clothes and shoes.

Now DWB has a team, and we're shifting its focus into something deeper than fashion; its a look at ourselves, the consumer, the people who are affected and influenced by the media.

Why, you may ask?

Simply because, life is more than dolling up. There's real people and real emotions behind the makeup, airbrushing, and created "perfection".

Personally, I'd like to see people getting informed and getting empowerment from our posts. I want people giving us feedback and suggestions for improvement, and telling us that they feel better - more real, and more aware of themselves.

Of course, comments from you guys would most certainly be appreciated.

With that, I present you: Kari's first post.

Pseudo-Raver 18th Birthday Celebration!

So, the celebration turned out very well. People mingled; The Boners/XO Team, (most of) The Veggies and other friends whom I met along the way in life. A lot of fun and laughs. Trust the boys to entertain themselves and the others with silly games such as kicking/pushing Fort Gate's heavy doors and tossing glowsticks into the trees. Of course, there was the obigatory Truth or Dare and Spin The Bottle, which I found highly amusing.

The cake was none other than Strawberry Shortcake from Bakerzin. While eating it, I was reminded of Japan, and missed my grandparents and sister for a bit. The cake was bigger than expected, and quite a few could not come at the very last minute, so there was quite a bit left. As you can see, it was slightly squashed by someone, but it didn't matter, because it was still edible! =3

If you're wondering what's on the little strip of marzipan (I think) surrounded by the candles, its not the usual (and boring) Happy Birthday message. It proudly says KARI IS AWESOMESAUCE - because indeed, I am awesome :P (Ego boost, anyone?)

But do you know what I loved best? Seeing all of you come together. I've been missing a lot of people and its was just so nice to meet you guys and talk to you again after such a long time. I truly enjoyed the experience and was glad to see you guys surviving and doing fine.

On to the fun part: Presents!

First up is the gift from Nicole! This is a vanilla cupcake with dark chocolate ganache, chocolate buttons and cute little icing sugar dinosaur. I met her at MAAD when I visited to see June and pass her some cupcakes. June said she saw Nicole - I went inside, saw her and gave her a rib-crushing hug. I thought the dinosaur was too cute to eat though, but I bit off the head. I don't really like the taste of pure sugar, so Nicole had the rest of the body.

Next is the pink Swarovski crystal earrings from Janani! I do admit I do like pink, but only soft pinks or pastels. These earrings are awesome. I love the design of the metal.

Cupcakes Galore and Happy Feet Soundtrack from my sister! This came very early because she left for the States a few weeks before my birthday. The cupcake recipes I tried are from this book: however I have this habit of altering the recipe according to my instincts. I never follow any recipe exactly. :P Happy Feet Soundtrack! Boogie Wonderland~~

To add on to the soundtrack, Jaryl has gotten me a Happy Feet VCD! I am in love with this movie. Awesome animation, wonderful storyline, and very catchy tunes. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman were wonderful in portraying Norma Jeane and Memphis (who were Penguin versions of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presly).

Mark's and Spencer's chocolate chip cookies from Jaryl's awesome Dragon Boater friend, Dean! YAY Mark's and Spencers!

This gift is literally, SIN SIN SIN (and I'm listening to a Robbie Williams' song of the same name at the same time, heh) and it comes from the quite innocent Mabel! I am so indulging in this when my period comes along.

A very interesting book from Kai Chi, Guo Min, Benjamin and Marcus! This is definately gonna come in handy when I'm writing stories or looking for the history behind any symbols.

A wonderful handmade keychain and bunny earrings from Samantha! It so reminded me of PantyCat and CondomBunny. You can see a bit of the note she had inside the box behind the keychain, but I'm not showing you because I'm its possessive, overprotective owner. Muahaha.

I Am A Cat by Soseki Natsume, a Mamegoma pad and a Kitty notebook with plain paper and plastic pockets inside from Shelley! Cute overload! I'm getting the book wrapped in clear plastic before reading it in order to protect it. Especially from my nails.

PUUPUU!!

A Mokona Plushie from my gor gor, Bing Shu! Mokona is a character originally from Magic Knight Rayearth, and appears in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. Squishy Bunny Love!

A very pretty puple scarf that was crocheted by none other than Victoria! I love how soft the yarn she used is. The photo doesn't do justice to the colours by the way; the purples and bits of pink are lovely. ♥

A very soft plush pup from Megah; the story behind this dog is actually quite silly. Everytime I hang out with him and we pass by a TOYS'R'US, I'd drag him in to see the plush animal section. This plush puppy (or its less fuzzy relative) would be the first animal I'd pick out to hug. Thus this sweet puppy for my birthday gift. <3

Meet Xavier and Oberon; Oberon is on the left, eyes wide open, and Xavier on the right, having a snooze. This is a sweet gift from Pamela, Darren, Pearly, Brian, Jon, Michael and Guo Zhen.

Their temporary names were X and O - not surprising since most of the people who contributed to this gift is from the XO Team. Originally, the names Xavier and Oliver was thought up, then I remembered how much I loved 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' just a week before and named O 'Oberon', after the King of Fairies.

Xavier: I'm in mai fuud, sleepin' mai sleep!

The only present I didn't take a picture of is Joan's present: A S$5 Kinokuniya voucher! I wasn't so sure if it was allowed (kinda like the issue about taking pictures/scanning currency) so I didn't. Even then, I love it very much, and will use it to buy myself a book!

I love each and every one of my presents and the cards that you guys gave. Thanks so much for coming - without you, the party wouldn't have been such a wonderful success.

The Excitement's Just Getting Started.

So, I really am getting a hamster. Ooh.

My tummy's all topsy-turvy and excited at the prospect of getting ~~a crunchy snack~~ a new pet. A wee rodent! I am very tempted to name it Nipple, in recognition of the two globules of flesh that belongs to Miss Pamela.

The worst case would be my mom asking me to give the hamster away, which I hope will not happen. I'll just tell mom that I didn't know they were getting me one. At least it isn't a cat. Or an iguana. Or a pony. Or a python. Now that would be a pickle.

Thanks to the mini brainstorming with Pamela, Pearly and Brian over the phone, I've found 2 places to go to in case it rains tomorrow: The Esplanade underground, you know, where those skaters hang out, and Somerset MRT Station. The latter is a weird place, I know, but (it might be) better than taking shelter at The Legends or Fort Canning Centre.

I pray it doesn't rain though. I love Fort Canning. Its awesome at night.

I've baked my third and last batch of cupcakes: Bandung cupcakes, sans the chococlate centers (those are pink). It was an ugly shade of purple- which is why, despite feeling a little ickish, I've added more violet food colouring.

I can't wait for tomorrow!

The party's in a few days, and everything's just about ready, except for the cupcakes, which shall be baked on Friday.

Ahh, the excitement!

I still haven't gotten replies from some people, though my estimates say that whatever I have gotten should be sufficient to feed everyone. I do hope my cupcakes would be enough to satisfy everyone's tastebuds- everyone loves Bandung Cuppies!

I'm extremely curious to know what you people would be bringing for the potluck. I know Jaryl would most likely be bringing a macaroni dish, and I heard Mike would be bringing Doritos/Corn Chips (since its technically not potato chips >_>). If there isn't enough stuff to feed you people, I'll order pizza! :D

And of course, I am curious to what I'll be receiving this year. I haven't heard a single peep about what I'll be getting- which is AWESOME, because I love surprises. Don't spoil it for me. Especially you, Benjamin Khoo!

Midsummer Night's Dreaming.

I watched A Midsummer Night's Dream yesterday at Fort Canning with Nicole- and I have to say, it is the best birthday present I have ever given myself.

I'll briefly go into it: The "stage" itself were walkways which formed squares (patches of grass) for the audience to sit on, and it very much interacts with the audience. A very different experience from watching everything performed on a normal stage. The audience has to move their heads, look at different directions, and at one point, is welcomed to join the characters in a dance (the celebration of the wedding if I remember correctly.)

Next, I have to touch on my favourite part: Costumes.

I loved Titania's costume; I am partially bias because it is black and red, but I liked it due to its simplicity. Her hair was interesting too.

Nick Bottom's costume after he was turned into a Donkey- was ingenious. In keeping with the lightly bondage theme, instead of a donkey head being used, it was a faux leather helmet with rabbity ears, and a strap-on with a tail.

Titania's fairies outnumbered Oberon's fairies... at least 4:1. Even then, their costumes were interesting. They were all in a default top, a kind of poofy skirt, tights or legwarmers and white shoes. I saw Victoria! ♥

My favourite of course, were Oberon's fairies. Faux leather pants with studs! Grey tough guy shirt! Faux leather glove! BOOTS! The red... eyeshadow? Or whatever that was. It made them look fierce. Oh dear God, I thought I was going to faint; my body temperature was shooting up faster than you can say "OH SHI-"

I wish I could have taken a picture. Dangit.

Anyways, for the play itself- I know little bits of the play, and while the Shakespearean talk at first confused me, I got accustomed to it and understood perfectly.

It was peppered with innuendo. Humourous stuff, I say.

All in all, a very engaging, magical night.

Next: I have my eye on Agamemnon. Also looking at the possibility of watching Dim Sum Dollies.

Tonight: 06A05 barbeque party at Wei Ren's place. Meet Sam at Woodlands, 6 PM.

Man, this week's been real busy. I'm hoping to wind down a bit next week. before pumping up again for Saturday's gathering.

I think I bought way too many glowsticks. Ack.

Plans and such.

Plans for the party are slowly but surely, being carried out. I will be buying a shitload of glowsticks to share around (but please do bring some of your own), as well as the utensils and such.

I have decided on my cake. Its from my favourite bakery, Bakerzin, and I'll be ordering it soon.

I'm not gonna tell which one, but I'm pretty sure its going to be absolutely loved. Bakerzin is awesome!!

Also, while surfing around, I came across Ganache Lipbalm! I feel like an extremely greedy little girl, and I've put it in my wishlist. I think once I have the chance to do online shopping, I'm going to buy myself all the things I really need/want. Like really good, supportive bras. Like really sexy red ones with black lace. Ooh, and one of those cool T-Shirt bras! And if I find a good deal, a truckload of nipple stickers. But most important is the bras. Mmm, bras.

I think I need to visit a dentist pretty soon. Firstly the prewisdom (or wisdom, I can't remember) tooth at the bottom left part of my jaw is starting to poke out, and its geting a litte sore. Secondly, I think I may have a cavity or soemthing similiar somewhere in the top right row of teeth. It hurts when I bite down a little too hard, and its starting to give me a slight headache.

I visited the people behind Instix Chemical Lights (A.K.A Glowsticks or Lightsticks), located at Chin Swee Road. They gave me a stick to sample, and I can say I'm quite impressed. The glow life of the sticks are much longer than the ones I bought from Concourse (the lasy said that the glow life is at least 8 hours); the one I have now was cracked around 6 PM, and still glows quite brightly. I'm impressed; even though its a little more costly, being S$8 per tube of 50 sticks, I think I'll invest a bit into them. If your glowsticks run out, have some of mine! :D

Also thinking of buying the larger 6 inch glowsticks, which are pretty thick. Those come with a string, and is suitable to hang around the neck or swing around for glowsticking or glowswinging . Those cost S$1.20 each though, so I might only get a few. I'm not sure as of yet.

I checked an online events calendar for events at Fort Canning- there shouldn't be anything happening there on 2nd June, and thus, it should be pretty dark and not very crowded.

Ah, the excitement. I can barely contain it.

Lets talk about issues.

I've finally decided to update something here, instead of waiting for my 18th to roll by.

Firstly, I'm not going to be very subtle about this. Because seriously, while being subtle helps to keep things in check, it can confuse people.

This problem. This feud. This utter stupidity and immaturity. It has to stop.

NOW.

I've left the school, and I'm still being dragged into this.

I remember: I gave you my trust the first day I met you- I opened up about something that - at that point in time - was very personal to me, and still hurt me deeply. I did so, because I thought it might help, and that you can learn through my mistake.

Nope. You threw that away, saying what I went through has nothing to do with your situation. It was totally unrelated. Its insignificant.

It may be insignificant to you, but it changed my life forever- and I'm not kidding. If it weren't for that one event, I probably wouldn't be where I am now. I may be a JC dropout, but I'm now a budding entrepreneur and waiting to start school in LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts.

The days rolled by, and I began to see the ugly side of you. I noticed, but being the nice person I was, and still am, I tried to understand you. I was your friend, remember? Along with Pamela, Darren and Marcus. We were the Boners. It wasn't a clique that was close because we knew each other well- it was probably more because we all were a little "out" within our own class, and as a result, came together for companionship.

But as much as I enjoyed having fun, it disturbed me that the problem- that feud between you and Bing Shu was not over. I tried to help. God knows I tried. In the end, I saw it was useless. My advice was as useless as giving glasses to a blind man.

I remember the incident with the plush toy I got for your birthday. I was subtle, but I know I made my point strong enough: It was a gift for you. Nope. You had to leave it on the canteen table, and Mike had to pass it back to be. I was infuriated and embarassed. Later on you realised, or should I say, "realised" that it was for you, and took it.

Now I think back, I choose to believe it was the latter. Simply because of your actions afterwards.

I know certain things I did or do are weird. Hey, I'll admit it- sometimes, I don't remember why I do something- or even remember doing something. I know I'm weird, and I'm fine with that.

Thing is, there's a difference between being a little odd or weird, and being...

Straight to the point: Gerald, if you don't stop hurting people- and the ways you do so, I will not say out of respect - you're going to loose all your friends. People will eventually know what you have done, and they're not going to trust you.

In a friendship, trust is the core. You keep on doing this, you'll lose the core even before you meet the person.

Just to let you know, this is for your own good. It may seriously look like I'm against you - and in many ways, I am, because you took my trust for granted.

But more strongly than ever, I, and the others, want to save you from destroying yourself. You're on the path of self destruction.

After reading this: You want to pick a fist fight? You want to curse me on your blog? You want to spread rumours about me?

Go right ahead.

I'm not the one losing my friends, simply because they know me better than to trust a bunch of stupid rumours.

Not to mention, they have trust in me- the same trust that you broke.

Ask those around you. We're all very, very tired.

Please stop. For your sake, and ours.

For The Lazy People
If you're too lazy to trudge through everything (although I must say, quite a few of those things are hard-to-finds and might interest you if you take up the time to look through), here's just some general guidelines:
I love the red, white, pastel/soft pink, pastel/soft blue and pastel/soft purple, especially when paired with black. Black makes the colour stand out.
I am a big fan of Final Fantasy- specifically FFX, X-2, FVII Advent Children and VIII. I'd love posters, art books or figurines, which will go nicely with the Game Soundtracks I got.
I love all things native to my paternal country. From quirky, cute items of cartoon characters such as Domo-kun and Cinnamoroll to books to teach one Japanese (since I'm very much a beginner, but I'll speak and write fluently some day!) and Sakura (Cherry Blossom; usually in soft pink and/or white) items like earrings, perfume, stickers, paper... if its Sakura related, I'd love it.
Cats and white tigers! My loves, along with dogs, spiders, frogs, and rodents.
I love handmade items, even if its not made by you. A good place to look for those is at MAAD; the next event would be on 2nd and 3rd of June, 11 AM to 8 PM at Red Dot Musuem. =D

I am fond of very few perfumes due to my sense of smell (which I think is a little stronger/more sensitive than most). I'll only reccomend getting Versace's Blue Jeans for Men, sinces its strong, its sexy, but not very overpowering. You can find it in shops such as SaSa (which I go to once in a blue moon because that place numbs my nose faster than you can say "Pheew".)
I love any artsy items such as art books and art magazines. I don't really reccomend getting me any mediums besides what I've mentioned in the Art related section above, because over the years, I've accumulated all of my mediums which I comfortably work with now.
Lastly, I very much prefer practical things. Things I can use, I can play with, that will make me use my grey matter; I don't mind something like magnets or dolls, but please don't buy something like a helicopter hat. Or a pony. I'll probably turn it into dog food. Or steak. Mmm, steak.

A Few No-Nos
Windchimes. I love them like crazy but I don't have any more space to put them up.
Alcohol- I'm Muslim. =)
A pony. Or any animal larger than a hamster. My mother would have a fit if she sees me carrying home an animal larger than a tennis ball.
Used Schoolgirl Panties. Yes you guys, I know its Japanese, but HEY, I'm a schoolgirl, I wear panties- I don't need used ones from a stranger. D:
